Scholarly journals are the main source of research for chemistry. Books, on the other hand, are often useful because they will collect and summarize the major trends in current research and can provide comprehensive overviews to a topic.
If you cannot locate a book, use the Interlibrary Loan Forms. A librarian will locate a library that owns the material and will send for what you need.
