Library Policies for Remote Classes and University Covid-19 Procedures

Quick guide for students in regards to the policies and resources of the library for Fall 2020

What to Know

Beeghly Library is committed to providing quality reference and information services during the Fall 2020 semester.

We are currently CLOSED to the public starting Thursday, September 17th to Friday, October 2. However, we will be "open" Monday- Friday 9:00am-5:00pm via email, phone, or our online chat and will be closely monitored to help you with any questions of concern you might have. We will have limited online hours on the weekends, which will be announced shortly.

In addition, our online resources are still be available. You can find a listing of our databases here and a link to our catalog here. Research guides on a variety of subjects are also available to help you here.

To log-in to the databases remotely, you will just need your last name and your library barcode number, which is a 11 digit number above the barcode on your Heidelberg ID card. If you are a new student and are unable to acquire an ID card, please contact us to have access to library materials.

The library staff will do our best to help you with finding resources and giving research aid, so please contact us for virtual research consultations and help in finding or accessing anything.

In addition, please keep in mind:

  • We are still providing instruction session via Zoom or Google Meet.
  • We will provide 'curbside' book pick up for OhioLINK and Interlibrary loan requests. If students or faculty need a book found in Beeghly, please contact us and we will arrange for you to pic kit up.
  • We are not open for printing at this time.
  • Our e-books have user limits, so if you are unable to access one, please try again later.
  • If you need to use a book on reserve, please contact us and we will arrange for its use.

We will also be developing new guides and videos on using Beeghly Library resources and on developing research and information literacy skills.

Covid-19 Safety Procedures

Beeghly Library will provide sanitization stations including hand sanitizer and cleaners for spaces for student use. We will follow social distancing guidelines in our organization of study spaces and work tables in the library. Students are required to wear masks when working in groups or close proximity to other students and when meeting or talking with Library Staff and can be provided with one at the Circulation desk if needed.

General Borrowed Materials

Materials such as books, print journals, cds, etc. can still be checked out from the library.

If you have materials checked out from the previous semester and will not be returning to Heidelberg physically in the Fall, please contact us to discuss returning your materials via another method at library@heidelberg.edu.

OhioLINK and Interlibrary Loan

Our borrowing services, OhioLINK and OPAL, will resume operation starting August 10th. There may be a slight delay in receiving materials through these services.
